Strategic Highway Coalition
The Gulf Coast Strategic Highway Coalition was formed in 2001 to promote improvements in deployment routes for Army installations near the Gulf Coast. It was initially started by representatives of communities along the proposed corridors in Texas and Louisiana. Communities all along the route from El Paso, Texas, to Augusta, Georgia, will benefit from transportation improvements that enhance local and interregional mobility and more efficient goods movements.
The Coalition has worked in close cooperation with the Texas Department of Transportation, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, the Mississippi Department of Transportation, and the Texas Transportation Institute.
Coalition partners include cities, counties, economic development organizations, chambers and regional councils of governments.
